The Art of Loving Haiti - One School, One Child at a Time

Did you ever dream of being an artist?  Could you see yourself creating beautiful works of art that would grace the finest museums and be awed over by many?

I know I did.  Yet, rarely was my creative works done with oils or paints but always with crayons – colorful, waxy crayons. 
 
Sadly, coloring between the lines was difficult for me.  Too much paper beyond those bold dark lines that begged to be colored upon. 

Our lives now are much like a page out of a coloring book.  Big and bold lines  surround us.  Crayon in hand we color first within the contours and then see what lies beyond the dark thick outline.  It is a stark blankness begging for a touch of color – of promise – of hope.

New Life Network is poised with crayons in our hands. 

There is a place beyond the bold dark lines of Maryland, USA.  A place named Terra Rouge, Haiti which lies through a river and up a mountain from the city of Jacmel.   It is a remote place often separated from the town when the rains come and the river swells.  There is a school in Terra Rouge called Bon Berger (Good Shepherd).  This school currently serves about 320 children but it could do so much more.  It could be so much more.

New Life Network is partnering with World Hope     International to color outside the lines.  We are seeking to build a school that will meet the national   education standard.  To build a school that will have the capacity to serve 800    children in two  sessions daily. 

We need your help.  For just $41,000  we can construct a building that will house four classrooms (the current single classroom school is constructed with poles and tarps and has a dirt floor).  The new school will more than double the current attendance for Bon Berger and will provide a learning environment that will be safe and  permanent.  In a community where the unemployment rate is 80%, we seek to build with local labor.   While the school promises a future, a construction job provides for an immediate need.  $41,000 goes a long way in Haiti!
